Firefighter finds son is victim while attending fatal crash
A firefighter made a heart-breaking discovery when attending a fatal car crash - that his son was the victim.
Randy Peterson, a firefighter in Ada, Minnesota, responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Sunday in nearby Borup.
Peterson had tried to contact his son, Carter, as he rushed to the scene, only to see his teenage son's car on fire.
"I dropped to my knees. I was a mess. Another member of the crew just held me", Peterson described.
Carter Peterson was returning from dropping off his girlfriend when another vehicle ploughed into the side of his vehicle.
The other driver, a 20-year-old man, was not seriously hurt in the crash - but was found to have alcohol in his system.
Randy Peterson described his son as "probably the most cautious driver, two hands on the wheel and he never sped".
A GoFundMe page has been set up in memory of Carter Peterson.
