One dead and several injured after San Marino rally crash

A spectator has died and several more seriously injured after a car veered off course into the crowd during a rally event in San Marino.

The Renault Clio Maxi, which was being driven by Enrico Bonaso with Alice Palazzi as navigator, hit straw bales that was protecting a run-off path, organisers said.

Sunday's race was cancelled, and local authorities immediately opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
