Cancer appeal for ex-Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell reaches £50,000 target
A campaign to raise £50,000 for former Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell to undergo cancer treatment has reached its target.
The amount was raised just days after the appeal was launched with more than 2,000 donations pledged.
Bracknell - who played Zoe Tate in the ITV soap for 16 years - and her partner Jez Hughes set up the campaign to send her to the Hallwang clinic in Germany for treatment.
The 52-year-old mum-of-two only discovered she was battling terminal lung cancer five weeks ago.
She and Mr Hughes wrote about the devastating news and their hopes to save her life on the donations page.
She was told her stage four lung cancer was "terminal, not curable, not operable", and insists her priority now was "getting well and strong" to "defy expectation".
