Four-year-old dies after mistaking cluster bomb for a toy

A four-year-old girl has died after she saw something "round and shiny" on the floor and picked it up - only for it to explode, shrapnel tearing through her tiny body.

In a report earlier this week, ITV News highlighted Eman's horrific injuries obtained after she mistook a cluster bomb for a toy, and visited her in hospital as doctors worked to save her.

ITV News correspondent Emma Murphy wrote: "In a city where the hospitals themselves are under attack they fought to save this little girl.

"But in the end the harm that had been done to that tiny frame was too much."

Eman's death comes as almost a hundred children have been killed in just one week by the relentless bombing of Aleppo.
