Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck regains its three Michelin stars
Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck has rejoined the list of the world's elite restaurants after regaining three Michelin stars.
The Fat Duck, located in Bray, Berkshire, was a three-star eatery for over a decade before a temporary move to Australia last year - subsequently missing out on a place in the 2016 Michelin Guide.
But the 50-year-old's £255-a-head restaurant has now rejoined the exclusive group in this year's edition, which was held live for the very first time.
Blumenthal, best known for his eclectic approach to cooking, told the Institution of Engineering and Technology he was "more ambitious" than ever before.
"I'm more ambitious - ambitious makes it sound like a competition - but I have more energy, more creativity, more drive, than I have ever had before", he said.
Blumenthal added that he wanted to leave a legacy, saying: "I want to leave this world happier than I found it", and praised the quality of British cuisine overall.
With the Fat Duck's return, the UK now boasts four restaurants with three Michelin stars.
Four star restaurants in UK:
Roux Brothers' Waterside Inn, Bray
