Unexploded WW2 bomb found in Portsmouth Harbour
An unexploded Second World War bomb has been discovered on the seabed at Portsmouth Harbour.
The German bomb - a 500kg device - was spotted by a barge carrying out dredging works, the Royal Navy said.
A spokesman confirmed it will be destroyed in a controlled explosion at midnight, after being towed into open waters 1.5 miles east of the Isle of Wight on Friday morning.
The dredging works at Portsmouth Harbour are taking place ahead of the arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth - the Royal Navy's new 65,000-tonne aircraft carrier - which is due to arrive in the spring.
