Nine wounded after Houston mall shooting

Nine people were injured in a shooting at a mall in Houston, Texas.

One is in a critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital and one is in a serious condition at Ben Taub hospital.

Four more were taken to other hospitals and described as being in a fair or good condition. Three more were treated at the scene.

Police said the "active shooter" has since been shot dead by officers and they were not seeking any other suspects.

The incident occurred near a Petco store in the south west of the city, a Houston Fire Department spokesman told NBC News.

Houston Police said on Twitter that the suspect was a lawyer and the motive could have been issues with his firm.

The bomb squad is "working to clear" the suspects vehicle, which had additional weapons inside before searching the apartment, police said.
