Golden cycling couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott have married
Cycling's golden couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott confirmed they have married.
The Olympian gold medalists rounded off their hugely successful year with the personal triumph as they tied the knot over the weekend.
Jason Kenny announced their nuptials with a tweet saying "Good morning Mrs Kenny" which showed his new bride in bed with the couple's two dogs.
Trott, 24, and Kenny, 28, scored enormous success at the Rio Olympics, with Trott winning two golds to become Britain's most successful female Olympian.
Kenny triumphed on three occasions to take his gold medal tally to six following successes at the Beijing and London games.
Trott's proud father also wrote on Sunday: "So pleased to announce that my darling daughter @LauraTrott31 married @JasonKenny107 yesterday. Thank you to everyone. A wonderful day."
He shared two photographs of the happy couple at the church. Trott looked radiant in her long-sleeved wedding dress with a wide lace scoop neck and sweetheart bodice.
Kenny, who has previously joked that he is unmarketable because he is "a miserable sod" was beaming in his dark grey three-piece suit.
Trott has previously said "it wasn't love at first sight" when she first met Kenny because he never spoke to her in training.
Their romance became public by accident. They were spotted kissing in the crowd as they sat behind ex-footballer David Beckham at the beach volleyball on Horse Guards Parade during the London 2012 Games.
The couple, who own a cottage just outside Knutsford, Cheshire, managed to keep their wedding out of the media spotlight and there were even suggestions that it might take place next year.
Trott was born in Harlow in Essex, but grew up in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. She was born one month early. She had a collapsed lung and was later diagnosed with asthma . Kenny comes from Bolton, Greater Manchester.
