Toddler seriously injured after being attacked by dog on beach
A two-year-old girl is in hospital with a serious facial injury after being attacked by a dog on a beach.
The toddler was on Troon beach in South Ayrshire with her grandmother on Saturday morning when the roaming dog approached and bit the child on her face.
The grandmother fought-off the animal, whose owner was not nearby, before the girl was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Medical staff have described her condition as "stable".
The dog is described as resembling a black Labrador cross. Police are appealing for witnesses of the attack which happened around 10am, to come forward.
