Prince William sympathises with 'distraught' GBBO fans
The Duke of Cambridge has sympathised with "distraught" fans of the Great British Bake Off, but said it will be equally good at its new home.
He spoke about the popular British show when he was decorating a cake during a visit to a youth club in south London.
After he piped vanilla butter cream onto cup cakes, he admired his work, saying: "Mary Berry - eat your heart out! Look at that."
He turned to 17-year-old Patricia Nunoo, one of the volunteers at the Caius House youth club in Wandsworth, and said: "Not quite as elegant as yours, but it's a start."
The future of Bake Off has been thrown into doubt after a shock announcement saying it will move from the BBC to Channel 4, and after hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc said they will not host it next year.
He said to the young bakers around him: "You must be distraught it's moving, but I'm sure it will be just as good."
The future king discussed his wife's cooking, and indulged in a little dancing at the centre, as he was persuaded to try a move called The Wave.
He copied Candice Blake, 15, raising his arms up and trying to make a wave from one fingertip to the other across his body.
He laughed at his own efforts, telling the youths: "It's very cool, if you need an extra back-room dancer give me a shout."
