Bullying row erupts in Labour party after 'hit list' released

An extraordinary bullying row has broken out around the Labour leadership campaign which tonight has led to an MP complaining to the Party Chief Whip about the Party Leader's campaign.

Someone on Team Corbyn briefed some of the media that 13 Labour MPs - whom they named - had been abusive to Mr Corbyn and his team through the campaign. The list included the Deputy Leader Tom Watson.

But those on the list saw it as a 'hit list'. One, Neil Coyle MP, tweeted: "Desperate, trial by troll, victim-culture claims from an anonymous source backing Corbyn this eve. Fuming."

In tonight's debate Owen Smith called it 'deeply divisive' and a 'deselection list' although Mr Corbyn appeared to stand by the list replying simply that the things on it were a matter of public record.

Team Corbyn, however, did realise they'd made a mistake and have been backtracking rapidly saying it was an unauthorised press release from a junior aide and apologising to Tom Watson.

John Woodcock MP, who was also on the list isn't impressed tweeting: "'Junior member of campaign team' - oldest trick in book. Shabby and deliberately targets colleagues for more abuse."

And now one of the MPs has complained to the Chief Whip that the list constituted "harassment and bullying by the leader of the parliamentary party".

It's not the end to the day Jeremy Corbyn needed, following what may have been the best outing at Prime Minister's questions he has ever had.
