Stan Wawrinka beats Novak Djokovic to win US Open
Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka secured his third career Grand Slam title after beating defending champion Novak Djokovic in the US Open.
The 31-year-old overcame Djokovic in four sets after initially losing the first, seeing the match out 6-7, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 on Sunday night.
Wawrinka now has three Grand Slam titles to his name, having beaten Djokovic in the French Open final last year and winning the Australian Open in 2014.
The world number three was match-point down to Britain's Dan Evans in round three at Flushing Meadows, before fighting his way back to victory.
Speaking after the final, Wawrinka said: "Honestly after the match I was completely empty. I put everything on the court".
Wawrinka became the first ever play to beat the top seed at the US Open after losing the first set.
