'I hope she gets well soon': Donald Trump speaks out on Hillary Clinton pneumonia diagnosis

Donald Trump has spoken for the first time on his rival Hillary Clinton's pneumonia diagnosis, wishing her a speedy recovery but also saying "something’s going on" with her health.

Mrs Clinton was taken ill at a 9/11 memorial ceremony on Sunday with video footage showing her stumbling and being held up by close aides as she left early.

Her campaign team initially said she was "overheated" but later issued a statement saying she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday - raising questions as to why her diagnosis was not disclosed earlier.

Mrs Clinton has cancelled a trip to California on doctors' advice.

Speaking on Fox on Monday morning, Mr Trump - who has consistently raised questions about his rival's health - said: "I hope she gets well soon. I don't know what's going on - I'm, like you, I just, I see what I see.

"The coughing fit was a week ago, so I assume that was pneumonia also. I mean, I would think it would have been so something’s going on but I just hope she gets well and gets back on the trail. And we'll, we'll be seeing her at the debate".

Mr Trump said health was "an issue" in the race for the White House and revealed that he would be releasing "very specific numbers" from a recent medical examination he undertook.

Mr Trump was also asked about Mrs Clinton's remark that "half" of his supporters belong in a "basket of deplorables".

"I think this is the biggest mistake of the political season," he told Fox.

He later told CNBC that Mrs Clinton's stumble and illness was "quite sad".
