Medal rush for ParalympicsGB on day four of Rio Games
ParalympicsGB continued its gold rush on day four of the Games in Rio, with eight gold medals, taking the overall medals tally to 56.
The day got off to a flying start with a gold medal in the first event of the day.
Rachel Morris took first place in the arms only single sculls at the Lagoa Stadium.
The win is Morris' third Paralympic medal, and second gold after she took first place in the hand cycling at Beijing 2008.
In the third event of the day Lauren Rowles won gold along with Laurence Whiteley in the mixed trunk and arms double sculls, despite only rowing for a year.
While in the fourth rowing event of the day, the mixed coxed four of Grace Clough, James Fox, Pamela Relph, and Oliver James, took gold.
The third gold means that ParalympicsGB has now won a medal in each of the four rowing finals of the morning after Tom Aggar took bronze in the men's arms only single sculls.
Later Lora Turnham and Corrine Hall won the gold for ParalympicsGB in the cycling Tandem B 3000m pursuit.
Paralympics GB team Louis Rolfe, Jon-Allan Butterworth and Jody Cundy also claimed gold in the Mixed C1-5 cycling sprint.
Bethany Firth won gold in the women's 200m freestyle S14, setting a new Paralympic record.
It was Firth's second gold in Rio after she had earlier defended her S14 100m title.
World record holder Richard Whitehead retained his title, with a second gold in the 200m T42 athletics event.
World champion Joanna Butterfield won ParalympicsGB's eighth gold of the day, breaking her own record in the F51 Club Throw.
The win secured her place as Paralympic Champion.
