Amanda Knox: 'Either I'm a psychopath in sheep's clothing or I am you'
She has been subject of intense global speculation after she was accused of the murder of her British flatmate Meredith Kercher.
Now, Amanda Knox who was twice convicted and twice acquitted by Italian courts is to appear in a candid documentary for Netflix.
The film, to be released on September 30, shows Knox breaking down in tears as she recalls her "nightmare".
In one trailer for the film, entitled Believe Her, she says: "Before Italy I had a happy life.
"Suddenly I found myself into this dark place. I was so scared."
But in another trailer, entitled Suspect Her, she says: "Either I'm a psychopath in sheep's clothing or I am you."
The documentary explores the nearly decade-long case that remains using testimony by Knox, her former co-defendant and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini and journalist Nick Pisa.
Netflix said the original documentary includes "unprecedented access to key people involved and never-before-seen archival material."
Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old exchange student from Coulsdon, Surrey, was found with her throat cut in her bedroom at her house in the Italian town of Perugia, Italy, on November 2, 2007.
Knox, Sollecito and another man, Rudy Hermann Guede, from the Ivory Coast, were accused of her murder.
Guede was sentenced to 30 years jail in October 2008.
Knox was convicted in 2009 and sentenced to 26 years but won an appeal in 2011. In 2013 she was convicted for a second time after a retrial.
In 2015, Knox and Sollecito had had their murder convictions overturned by Italy's highest court.
