Boy, 12, who begrudgingly attended a CPR class saves sister's life
A 12-year-old boy saved his sister's life just weeks after begrudgingly attending a CPR class.
Kyle Prater told his mum he "really didn't want" to attend the free 20-minute course she had signed him up for at their local library.
But Kyle, from Cottleville, Missouri, ended up attending - and quickly put his new skills into practice.
Just weeks later while in the car with their mum, Kyle's nine-year-old sister Camden began choking on an ice cream crone.
After they had pulled over, Kyle's instincts kicked in - dropping his own ice cream cone before performing the Heimlich manouevre on Camden.
Kyle described how at the time he thought attending the CPR course would be a waste of a summer's day.
"I called my mum and said, 'I really don't want to do this'. She made me do it anyway", he said.
Now his mum, Kimberly, is crediting him with saving her daughter's life.
"I don't know what I would've done. It just makes me realise how important it is", she said.
