Wayne Rooney says he will retire from international duty after the end of the current World Cup campaign.

The England captain believes Russia 2018 will be his last chance to achieve anything with the national team.

Rooney has yet discuss with new manager Sam Allardyce about what his role will be within the team.

It's been suggested that he well be played as a No.10 rather than the deeper midfield role, where he operated during the Euros.
