Sam Allardyce names first England squad

Uncapped West Ham midfielder Antonio has been named in Sam Allardyce's first England squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

The winger scored his second goal in as many games for West Ham on Sunday, after netting against Bournemouth last weekend.

The 26-year-old made 32 appearances for the Irons last season after joining the Premier League club from Nottingham Forest.

As widely expected, Luke Shaw returns to the England squad following a double-leg break that sidelined him throughout the 2015/16 season.

Leicester title-winner Danny Drinkwater also makes the England setup having been the last man to be cut from the England Euro 2016 squad by Roy Hodgson.

Joe Hart retains his place despite his ongoing exile at Manchester City, with Wayne Rooney being named among the midfielders.

Everton's Ross Barkley and Jack Wilshere miss out.

The squad will meet up at St. George's Park on Monday, before facing Slovakia in Trnava on Sunday 4 September.
