Laura Trott: From baby with collapsed lung to Britain's most successful female Olympian
After successfully defending her title in the omnium on Tuesday night, Laura Trott became the most successful female British Olympian with four gold medals.
However, her road to Rio success has not been a smooth ride, with the athlete overcoming adversity to end up top of the podium.
Born four-weeks early with a collapsed lung, she spent the first six weeks of her life in intensive care with doctors warning her parents she might not survive.
As a toddler she had permanent chest infections and was diagnosed with asthma aged six.
Even now she is affected by an acid reflux problem that can cause her to vomit after racing.
After the individual pursuit event in the omnium, Trott was caught on camera retching into a bag.
Trott was introduced to cycling at the age of eight when her mother decided she wanted to lose weight, but it was not just the Olympian this inspired, with her older sister becoming hooked as well.
Emma Trott, 28, also went on to become a professional racing cyclist, riding for the Dutch women's professional team Dolmans-Boels from the 2012 to the 2014 season. She has now retired.
Outside of cycling, Laura Trott was little known until she shot to fame at the London 2012 Olympics, winning gold in the omnium and team pursuit.
Her relationship with fellow gold-medal winning cyclist Jason Kenny further increased her fame after the pair were spotted kissing, while sat behind David Beckham watching the women's beach volleyball final in London.
Kenny proposed in 2013 while the pair were watching EastEnders and the couple will tie the knot in September.
Speaking after her and Kenny's triumph - he equalled six Olympic golds the same as Chris Hoy - she revealed the pair do want children one day.
She tweeted: "Argh!!! I love him to bits!! Our kids have to get some of these genes right?!"
But the 24-year-old from Cheshunt has vowed to continue with her medal-winning cycling career first.
Speaking after defending her London title, she said: "I can't believe it - I did not expect that at all.
"I am just so happy that it all came together - I can't thank everyone at home enough."
As the most successful couple in Olympic history, Trott and Kenny have clocked up an impressive 10 gold medals between them.
Trott cried on the sidelines as Kenny pedalled his victory lap with his arms in the air, before the couple embraced and kissed as the crowd cheered.
