Hero mum who dragged son home in Baltimore riots left homeless after he burns house down

A mum who dragged her son home after spotting him in the Baltimore riots has been left homeless - after he accidentally burnt their house down.

Toya Graham shot to fame after a video emerged of her angrily slapping son Michael after he threw rocks at police last year.

The single mother-of-six was hailed 'Mum of the Year' after chasing him as he tried to run off.

But the family now have nowhere to live after Michael accidentally started a fire while cooking chicken on Saturday.

Michael, now 17, reportedly stepped away from the kitchen to use the toilet when the fire broke out.

He then made matters worse by throwing water on to the grease fire but luckily no one was hurt.

Toya said: "I'm not blaming Michael. But I'm angry."

The family are staying in a hotel while the rented home undergoes repairs.

But with no insurance, they have been forced to set up a GoFundMe page to cover their costs.

They have so far raised over $12,000 of their initial $5,000 target.

At the time of hitting the headlines in 2015, Toya said of her son: "Is he the perfect boy? No he's not, but he's mine."
