Gary Lineker kept his promise to appear on Match Of The Day in just his pants if Leicester won the Premier League last season.

They did, and so did he.

The former Tottenham striker began the round-up of the day's football action half-naked, while co-presenters Alan Shearer and Ian Wright laughed in the background.

By way of explanation the 55-year-old offered: "It is a one-off and a sporting miracle that has landed me in my underwear."

Leicester City is Lineker's boyhood club, and he scored 94 goals in 194 matches for them.

Lineker's minimal attire is thanks to a tweet he put out in December 2015, after Leicester began the 2015/2016 season 5000-1 to be crowned champions with bookmakers.

Ahead of the BBC programme, Lineker again took to Twitter, though this time he was not making any more promises.

However, Lineker's choice of smalls was questioned by presenter Dan Walker who asked: "Were they pants or shorts though."

Whichever they were, Lineker reappeared fully clothed later in the show.
