Real Sociedad sign goalkeeper from Man City

Real Sociedad have signed goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Manchester City, despite him never training with the English side.

It is thought City reserve the right to purchase the player, who has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Basque Country, from Real Sociedad in the future.

Rulli will eventually sign a five-and-a-half year deal at the Anoeta in due course after another loan spell.

A statement read: "Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the signing of Gero Rulli. The Argentine goalkeeper will arrive on loan until December and will then will become a Real Sociedad player until June 30 2022. The final agreement comes after the English Football Association agreed to transfer between Manchester City and SD Maldonado with their Uruguayan counterparts. At the culmination of the agreements, contracts were signed between Manchester City and Real Sociedad."

Rulli appeared at this year's Olympics for Argentina.

City have been asked to comment.
