BBC political presenter Andrew Neil has admitted he earns more than the Prime Minister's £143,000 annual salary.

Speaking to the Radio Times about the controversy surrounding the BBC's highest earners, Neil said he would be "happy" for his salary to be revealed as long as the number of programmes on which he appears every year is also taken into consideration.

Neil hosts The Daily Politics, Sunday Politics and This Week.

The Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee wants BBC stars who earn more than the PM to publish their salaries.

Last week the committee said there is "no good reason" for performers, presenters and executives to "hide" their pay if they earn more than the PM.
