#OlympicNan: Adam Peaty's proud nan Mavis becomes Twitter sensation

While Team GB swimmer Adam Peaty is favourite to win gold in the Rio 100m breaststroke later, his proud nan has been making some waves of her own.

Mavis Williams has become an internet sensation about posting a series of adorable tweets supporting her 21-year-old grandson.

Calling herself #OlympicNan, Mavis' Twitter bio says 'Proud Nan to a World Champion Breaststroker'.

And even though she isn't in Rio to watch her grandson swim live, she showed she certainly is in spirit.

When Peaty broke his own world record in Saturday's heats, Mavis tweeted: "Oooo I'm so proud he's a gladiator well done."

And she adorably signs some of her messages of support with "love nan".

In the run up to Rio 2016, Mavis shared her own preparations, including getting bunting put up on her house.

She tweeted: "I'm ready for Rio now thanks to my kind window cleaner who put my bunting up."

And even though she isn't at the Games, Mavis still ensured she looked her best posting snaps of her getting her nails done in Team GB colours.

And Mavis has gone down so well on social media, there is an even a campaign to get #OlympicNan to 100,000 followers.
