Plane crash lands in road after overshooting runway

A plane carrying cargo has overshot the runway at an international airport in Italy and crash-landed on a road.

Dramatic pictures surfaced on social media showing a Boeing 737 in the middle of the road early Friday morning near Bergamo’s Orio al Serio airport.

It is understood that the plane, which belongs to DHL couriers, crashed into the side of the road after trying to land during bad weather.

The plane landed at 4.07am after a flight from the Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris, France.

The airport was closed for nearly three hours after the incident, and no one is reported to have been hurt in the accident.
