Ex-Newcastle striker Ranger signs Southend deal

Nile Ranger last played for Blackpool.

Southend United have signed Nile Ranger on a one-year deal, with the option of another year.

The controversial striker was last with Blackpool, but hasn't played a competitive game since November 2014.

Ranger, 25, has spent the summer on trial at Roots Hall, impressing manager Phil Brown enough to earn a contract.
