Batsuit and other film memorabilia up for auction

Batman's batsuit is expected to fetch around £60,000 at a rare film and TV memorabilia sale.

The costume which featured in The Dark Knight Rises will be sold alongside the Batpod motorcycle and more than 500 other original items from well-known films.

The wedding dress that Keira Knightley wore in Love Actually will also go on sale and is expected to sell for between £5,000 and £7,000.

The Sloth Mask from the cult eighties film The Goonies could reach up to £40,000.

The auction, held by Prop Store, will be the UK's largest live sale of film and TV memorabilia, with lots expected to sell for more than £1.5 million in total.

Other items on offer include Steven Spielberg's clapperboard from Jaws, Harry Potter's Hogwarts acceptance letter, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's original Terminator 2 Judgment Day costume.

The lots will be on display to the public at a free exhibition at the BFI IMAX in central London from September 14 until the auction on September 27.

Stephen Lane, Prop Store chief executive, said: "This year brings an opportunity for film fans and collectors alike to view some of the world's most iconic film and TV items for free, and bid to secure their own pieces of movie and television history."
