Swimmer dies after getting into difficulties off Isles Of Scilly Coast

A swimmer has died after getting into difficulties off the Isles of Scilly.

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency said the UK coastguard were called shortly after 6pm to calls that a man had been pulled from the water near Porthcressa beach.

A search was carried out following concern that other swimmers might have been in the area, but no-one else was found and it’s believed he was swimming on his own.

Despite efforts to revive him, the man was declared dead at the scene.
