Fans dress up and queue outside bookshops for new Harry Potter book
Fans around the world have taken to social media to discuss their excitement about the release of the new Harry Potter book.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is the eighth instalment following wizard Harry Potter, goes on sale at midnight UK time, on the same day that the play of the same name in London opens to the public.
The book also goes on sale in other countries at midnight UK time.
Book stores across the world have set up launch parties and events for fans - with some dressing up as characters from the much-loved series.
Some shops have created Harry Potter-related games for people waiting in line to grab a copy of the book.
Earlier on Saturday, author JK Rowling thanked fans for not sharing the plot of the play, which has been previewed in London for some weeks before the official opening.
