Clintons react with childlike glee to balloon finale

Political veterans they may be, but Hillary and Bill Clinton still react with childlike glee at the sight of a grandstand convention finale.

The power couple stood wide-eyed and open-mouthed amid pyrotechnics as balloons descended from the ceiling of the Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia.

The ticker-tape display came after Hillary formerly accepted the party's nomination to run for the office that her two-term husband held from 1992 to 2000.

The pair indulged in balloon throwing games with rapturous Democrat supporters while being joined on stage by Mrs Clinton's running mate Tim Kaine and their respective families.

Highlights of the celebrations were captured on social media.

After the crowds cleared, it was left to staff to become the official party poopers, as NBC News reporter Alex Seitz-Wald filmed.
