Ian Huntley's daughter and former partner open up about discovering Soham murderer's crimes

The daughter and former partner of Soham murderer Ian Huntley have spoken to ITV's Good Morning Britain about their horror at discovering he killed two young girls.

Sammie Bryan, who was just four years old when Huntley murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, said she was deeply upset at the discovery and has no desire to ever meet her father.

When she was 14, Sammie discovered her true relationship to Huntley while researching a school project.

"It was really upsetting," Sammie told GMB. "I was more shocked because I wasn't expecting it to happen and it did upset me for a very long time afterwards. It upsets me to know what he's done and how many people it's affected."

Sammie's mother Katie Bryan, was just 15 when she met Huntley. Their relationship was turbulent and he was physically violent towards her.

It was only when she became pregnant with Sammie that she gained the courage to leave Huntley.

Ms Bryan said she believed if she did not leave, her daughter may not have survived.

She said she shielded Sammie from discovering who her father was because she wanted to protect her.

"When she was little I hoping she would never find out who her father was," Ms Bryan said.

"Nobody knew that Sammie was his, we kept it from our friends, everyone. We knew that it'd come out."
