Hottest weather for over a year

Our mini heatwave is in full swing with clear full blown blue skies and wall to wall hot, strong sunshine. Temperatures will peak at 34-35C with the heat extending the length and breadth of the country.

Where the heat is too much, feeling more comfortable where there's a little cloud and a cooler breeze along the coasts.

It'll stay very warm well into the evening with late sunshine - a few hefty downpours, some thundery, will get going through Northern Ireland and Scotland later and after dark.

It'll be a humid, sleepless, uncomfortable overnight - and for some a potentially record breaking warm night with temperatures not much below 23-24C.
