Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman's mother killed after being knocked off her bike
The mother of Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman has been killed after she was knocked off her bike while cycling in North Wales.
Carol Boardman died in after being hit by a car in Connah's Quay. She was taken to hospital but died later of her injuries.
Boardman, 47, who won individual pursuit gold at the 1992 Barcelona Games, issued a heartfelt tribute on behalf of his family to Mrs Boardman, who was a keen cyclist.
In a statement released on Twitter he said of his mother that she was "the most positive outgoing person you could ever hope to meet and her generosity of spirit inspired everyone she met".

Many from the world of cycling and sports paid tribute to the late Ms Boardman.
Sir Gary Verity, who helped bring the Tour de France to Yorkshire in 2014, wrote on Twitter: "Devastating news. Sending our thoughts & prayers. Condolences from all your friends in Yorkshire."
Triathlete Philip Walton tweeted: "Carol Boardman was one of the loveliest women you could wish to meet. The cycling community & the world is a poorer place without her. RIP."
Police said they were called to the scene at the roundabout in Mold Road with the junction of Ffordd Llanarth at 1.54pm.
The pick-up vehicle involved in the collision was a white Mitsubishi L200.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: "Police are renewing their appeal for anybody who may have witnessed the collision to contact officers on 101, quoting reference number U104385."
