Qandeel Baloch: 'Pakistan's Kim Kardashian' allegedly strangled by brother in 'honour killing'
Pakistan's answer to Kim Kardashian has been murdered in an apparent 'honour killing' by her own brother.
Social media star Qandeel Baloch regularly posted photos online challenging social norms in the traditional Muslim country.
As a result she received death threats and suffered frequent misogynist abuse - but continued to post provocative pictures and videos.
In one of her last tweets before she died, Miss Baloch, whose real name was Fauzia Azeem, said: "I will fight for it. I will not give up. I will reach my goal & absolutely nothing will stop me."
But 24 hours later she was killed in her family home on the outskirts of Multan - a large city in the Punjab province.
Her parents told police her brother Waseem had strangled her.
Police spokeswoman Nabeela Ghazanfar said: "Apparently, it is an honour killing, but further investigations will reveal the real motives behind this murder."
Baloch's brother, who is said to have had a problem with the pictures she was posting online, is now on the run.
Her parents have been taken into police custody for questioning.
Honour killings are not uncommon in Pakistan with more than 500 - almost all women - taking place each year.
Usually the killings are carried out by family members as punishment for bringing "shame" on the community.
