91-year-old war veteran has medals stolen in burglary
A war veteran had six medals, including the highest honour in France, stolen from his home while he was out shopping.
The 91-year-old came home from a shopping trip on the afternoon of June 22, to find that his home in Wootton Park, Bristol had been broken into, and his war medals stolen.
The medals were left on a kitchen work surface to clean but they had vanished by the time he got back.
The medals stolen include a bronze 3945 star, a bronze France and Germany star, and a police long service medal, which were engraved with the victim's name, the number 2666006 and 5th Battalion Coldstream Guards.
A green and silver French Legion d'Honneur medal - the highest decoration in France - and a black wallet with gold lettering were also taken from the pensioner's home.
Avon and Somerset Police are appealing to the public for information following the burglary, and urge them to call 101 with the reference 5216151507.
