Cluedo kills off key character Mrs White in first major change in 70 years

Classic board game Cluedo has killed off one of its key characters, Mrs White.

The housekeeper of the mansion owned by Dr Black is to be replaced by Dr Orchid, who was privately educated in Switzerland "until her expulsion following a near-fatal daffodil poisoning incident".

Dr Orchid, who gained a PhD in plant toxicology, was taught by the very character she is to replace.

The new character is also the adoptive daughter of Samuel Black, who owns the mansion where they key characters in Cluedo stay.

It is the first time Cluedo's owner Hasbro has killed off a character since 1949.

The game has six characters: Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs Peacock, the Reverend Green, Colonel Mustard and the new Dr Orchid.

All of the characters have been revamped in recent years, except Colonel Mustard, who has remained the same.

Cluedo involves finding out who killed whom, where, and with what instrument.

The murder weapons are a candlestick, lead pipe, revolver, dagger, rope and spanner.
