Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has caused a stir on Twitter after she started tweeting about the UK's EU referendum.

The Mean Girls star started commenting on results after Sunderland voted by a large majority to leave the European Union.

She then used the hashtag #Remain, adding: "Small shops should pay more attention."

She later tweeted in response to the Shetland islands voting to remain in the European Union and Kettering voting to leave.

She tweeted: "Don't let me down in the UK as a loving member of your beautiful country during Her Majesty the Queen's birthday time."
