Glastonbury: Wet weather warning for festival drivers

Glastonbury festival-goers have been warned not to travel by car, caravan or campervan because wet weather and ground conditions are causing congestion.

Festival organisers urged people who had set off but not yet reached the site to "stop somewhere safe and warm".

People arriving by coach or train were told to travel as planned but to be prepared for "your journey to take longer than usual".

The Met Office posted a weather update on Twitter warning of further outbreaks of rain in Glastonbury.

Meanwhile, Avon and Somerset Police "strongly advised" people to avoid travelling on main roads leading to the Glastonbury Festival site in Pilton due to heavy traffic.

Earlier this week, showers caused boggy fields and submerged paths on the site of the festival, which will welcome more than 180,000 revellers during the rest of the week.

Adele, Coldplay and Muse are this year's headline acts.
