Sir Clement Freud abuse left victim 'repulsed, numb and shocked'
Video report by ITV News Reporter Sejal Karia
A woman has told ITV News how she was left feeling "repulsed, numb and shocked" after Sir Clement Freud allegedly attacked her when she was a student.
Rosemary Rimmer-Clay was a 19-year-old in her second year at Dundee University when she met Sir Clement Freud, who she said she thought of at the time as "a bit of a hero of mine".
After meeting at a Burns night supper in 1975, Freud invited her to go to a coffee.
As Freud was the rector of her university, Rosemary says she "didn't see anything sinister in it", and she thought he wanted to have a quieter chat about university.
They went to Rosemary's flat which was nearby, when Rosemary says the former MP and broadcaster cooked her an omelette, before he "lunged" at her.
Rosemary says it was odd he made her an omelette, because they had just eaten a big meal
"I think now that it was kind of ritual he had...he gave it to me in a very ceremonious way and stood and watched me eat it", she says.
After that, he "lunged" at her, and Rosemary says she "in no way did I encourage him, at all."
She said he was "sort of saying 'have a hug' and I said 'no I don't really want that'".
Rosemary says he began to back off when she told him of a personal connection they shared.
Now 62, Rosemary says the incident was "straightforward abuse", adding: "I saw him as someone who was a representative of the university...he was a national wit and an author, but he was abusing his power to prey on young girls."
She said the experience left her feeling "repulsed and numb and shocked", and that she "went from thinking this is someone I really admire to thinking he's just a revolting creep".
Rosemary never reported the incident to either Dundee University or police.
She says she believes that she got off lightly, "compared to what other people went through".
Last week ITV Exposure heard from two alleged victims of Sir Clement Freud. The Metropolitan Police is assessing the allegations. After the documentary aired, another victim spoke to ITV News to say she had also been abused by Freud.
Dundee University has said it is now looking over its records from Freud's time there as a result of the allegations.
