Lawyer Blaine Gibson, who is funding his own search for the missing plane, said the items may have nothing to do with the doomed flight which vanished more than two years ago with 239 people on board.

The images have been released on the Aircrash Support Group Australia website to see can be identified as belonging to any passengers.

Earlier this year Mr Gibson found debris near to where he discovered the personal items in Madagascar.

Mr Gibson also found debris in February that experts later determined came from the airliner.
