Jo Cox only ever wanted everyone to be happy, says sister in tribute
Jo Cox MP was a person who could "see the positive in everything" and only ever wanted for "everybody to be happy", her sister has said in a heartfelt tribute today.
Kim Leadbeater was applauded as she laid flowers at a memorial before reading out a family tribute to the Labour MP who was fatally shot and stabbed while carrying out her duties.
The family gave thanks to all those who had expressed their love and affection for Mrs Cox after her death, saying it had helped them through "dark times".
She also offered personal thanks to passer-by Bernard Kenny who tried to save her life in the aftermath of the attack. "What an amazing man," she said.
Ms Leadbeater said that the family had generally wanted to avoid the public gaze, but had to speak out after experiencing an "overwhelming outpouring of genuine grief sympathy and love" from all those touched by the MP.
"She was a human being and she was perfect," she said.
