Former armed forces chief Lord Guthrie switches from Remain to Leave
A former head of the armed forces has revealed he is now backing the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union, having previously stated that he supported 'Remain'.
Field Marshal Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank said he had made a "mistake" in signing an open letter with other senior military figures in support of the In campaign earlier this year.
He said that concerns over moves to create a European army had forced him to change his position, claiming that it would be a "disaster" - and undermine the Nato alliance on which the defence of the West depends.
