Feline wine for cats goes on sale

For the cat who has everything - how about a glass of fine vintage?

That is now a possibility after a US businessman created a non-alcoholic wine especially for feline friends.

Creator Brandon Zavala said the project had started as a joke, but he gradually realised there could be a genuine demand from owners who want to sit down and share a drink with their pets.

His Apollo Peak wines use beetroot to get a genuine-looking red colour with a kick of catnip - but no alcohol.

Mr Zavala told The Huffington Post that he began selling his wine commercially in November.

As yet there are just two varieties - a red named Pinot Meow and a white called MosCATo.

They are currently on sale only in the US - but Mr Zavala says he is working to bring the wines to a wider audience.
