British fan handed five-year football ban after Euro violence
A British football fan has been banned from matches for five years for his involvement in violence ahead of England's opening Euro 2016 match against Russia.
Daniel Warlow was caught by a police "spotter" throwing a metal chair in Marseille on June 10.
The 24-year-old, of Spring Meadow, Tipton, West Midlands, was summoned back to the UK and sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court.
District judge Shamim Qureshi told him: "I'm not going to give you a lecture.I think you've learned from experience of the last week how things can go terribly wrong in society."
The Football Banning Order (FBO) prohibits him from attending any professional football match in the UK for the next five years.
Warlow had planned a return to France later this week – but the FBO has scuppered his hopes of following the Three Lions as it also bans him from travelling aboard to watch England internationals.
