Apple announces new iOS 10 update
Easier to use and bigger emojis, facial recognition in photos, and iPhones and iPads that will be able to understand your conversations and predict words you will use are just some of the new updates Apple has announced.
Apple is introducing more artificial intelligence as part of the iOS 10 update, revealed at their World Wide Development Conference (WWDC) in San Fransisco.
iOS 10 will become available to the public in the autumn.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook said that should lift humanity" and that the update across Apple's four platforms was a "huge moment" for the company.
So what are the updates?
Siri, the techology giant's virtual assistant, will now be able to predict the words you will use in a text conversation.
Siri will also be able to find faces in your photo albums.
The Messages app has been updated so that emojis will be three times larger.
Emojis will replace words in the Messages app if their is an appropriate option.
A new app called Home was announced, and will allow users to control internet-enabled smart home products - for example pressing the 'goodnight' option will turn off all appliances for the evening.
Other apps can now use Messages, for example placing a food order via a restaurant app from within Messages.
Handwritten notes can be sent as Messages.
Siri will be added to desktop computer software.
Desktop software is being renamed macOS.
Users will be able to pay for items using Apple Pay from their desktop computers.
Apple Music will get a complete redesign after being criticised for being too complicated to use.
Apple's Craig Federighi also reiterated the firm's commitment to user privacy, saying the company would continue to encrypt the data on its products, following the company's stand-off with the FBI over access to data on the phone of a terror suspect.
