Arnold Schwarzenegger films moment elephant charges at his vehicle

Arnold Schwarzenegger filmed the moment an elephant began to charge at his vehicle during a safari in South Africa.

"He's going to charge us," the former Terminator star is heard saying as the animal inspects the vehicle.

The animal then appears to lose interest and back off.

But it suddenly turns around and charges at the vehicle forcing the driver to quickly speed away.

Schwarzenegger posted footage of the close encounter on Instagram where it has gained over 300,000 views.

In the caption, the 68-year-old said he could not have "written this safari encounter better if it was a movie".

"I'm absolutely in awe of these beautiful, strong animals, even though some of us had to change our pants after this," he wrote.

We need to stop killing them - take a photo, not a shot. Would you rather be able to experience these creatures or a hunk of ivory? I thought so."

Earlier this year, ITV News reported from Kenya, South Africa, Malawi and Laos on the battle to save the elephant and the rhino from extinction.
