Alastair Cook becomes first English cricketer to score 10,000 Test runs
Alastair Cook has made history after scoring 10,000 Test runs.
The England cricket captain is the first Englishman and youngest player to ever achieve the landmark.
He scored the milestone during the second Investec Test against Sri Lank at Chester-le-Street.
Many, including former England captain Michael Vaughan and the Prime Minister, were quick to congratulate the 31-year-old on Twitter.
England went on to win the Test by nine wickets as Cook made 47 not out.
He is only the 12th player in history to reach the milestone and overtakes India's Sachin Tendulkar's 2005 record of being the youngest player to ever achieve it.
