Chinese laundry detergent advert called 'most racist ever'

A Chinese advert for clothes detergent has been branded the 'most racist ad ever'.

The ad for Qiaobi detergent starts innocuously enough, with a Chinese woman and a black man flirting.

The man has flecks of paint on his cheeks, and as he leans in for a kiss, she pops a detergent capsule in his mouth and shoves him into her washing machine.

She then sits on the machine until it's finished, and a Chinese man comes out wearing a clean white t shirt.

The video has sparked outrage online, with commenters branding it racist and unacceptable.

"My god," wrote one user on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform. "Don't Chinese marketing people get any education about race?"

The advert is extremely similar to an older Italian advert which claimed that 'colour is better', and showed a woman washing a white man with a special colour-treating detergent, only for him to emerge as a muscly black man.
