Jennifer Aniston's mum Nancy Dow dies aged 79

Jennifer Aniston's mother Nancy Dow has died at the age of 79.

The Friends star had reportedly not seen her mother for several years following a feud over a tell-all book about their relationship.

But Aniston reconnected with her shortly before she passed away and was seen visiting her in hospital.

In a statement Aniston said: "It is with great sadness that my brother John and I announce the passing of our mother Nancy Dow.

"She was 79-years-old and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends after enduring a long illness.

"We ask that our family's privacy be respected as we grieve our loss."

Her mother is said to have suffered a series of strokes which left her unable to speak and walk before she died.

Aniston, whose latest film is called Mother's Day, has previously spoken our about her relationship with her mum saying she was "very critical of her".

She told the Hollywood Reporter: "Because she was a model she was gorgeous, stunning.

"I wasn't. I never was. I honestly still don't think of myself in that light, which is fine.

"She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty."
