Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been sacked despite his team's FA Cup final victory on Saturday.

Reports that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is to take over emerged within minutes of the final whistle at Wembley.

Here, Tom White reviews the Dutchman's tenure in figures:

0 - Manchester United have scored nil in a game on 23 separate occasions under Van Gaal.

3 - United finished third in their Champions League group this season to drop into the Europa League, where they reached the last 16 before losing to rivals - and eventual finalists - Liverpool.

4 - Goals conceded in last season's embarrassing League Cup loss to MK Dons.

15 - United finished 15 points behind surprise Premier League champions Leicester this season. They were 17 behind champions Chelsea in Van Gaal's first season in charge.

19 - Premier League games drawn under Van Gaal, one quarter of the games he has overseen in the league.

29 - Wayne Rooney is United's leading goalscorer of Van Gaal's reign with 29 in all competitions. Juan Mata has 20, with Anthony Martial firing 17 in one season.

£57.6m - The potential fee paid for Martial, should the Frenchman's performances trigger the full range of bonus payments included in the deal.

110 - Jesse Lingard's 110th-minute winner finally saw off Crystal Palace in Saturday's FA Cup final.
